Battle of Streaks: BGK vs TNT in Batangas

Good morning! I'm back. After not eating dinner Sunday night, I am here again. Afterall, I was never a quitter. Especially when it comes to my passion for Ginebra. Tested.

So, tomorrow is the battle of streaks, if i may say. Why? For Tropang Texters, since they are on a 10-game winning streak this conference and for Gin Kings, well, the magic hasn't tarnished.. yes, they have been winning straight in their last 8 or 9 out-of-town games (somebody correct me please!!!)? Yes? Yes. So, as I was saying, this is going to be the battle of winning streaks. For Talk N Text, they will face the challenge of playing Gin Kings, the most loved team in the league. Imagine hearing "WALK OUT! WALK OUT! WALK OUT!" again.. Oh! And the famous "Gi-neb-ra! Gi-neb-ra! Gi-neb-ra!" chant.. Oh! This is going to be one helluva game, no one would dare miss.

Eric Menk was said to sit out for 2 or more games due to a strained muscle. And Ronald Tubid will be out tomorrow to serve his one-game suspension because of the Flagrant Foul Penalty 2 called against him last game when he allegedly extended an elbow to Jireh IbaƱes of Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.

Mildon Ambres, Ginebra's 2nd import this season (who succeeded NBA veteran Awvee Storey) will now be replaced by Denham Brown (please open another tab and google it!). An insider said that he will arrive today. So, the crowd can't be sure yet if we'll see some action tomorrow.

In lieu with this, we will expect to see more playing time for our local heroes Mark Caguioa, Jayjay Helterbrand, and even new kabarangay Willie Miller.

Okay, I think this is getting boring now. I myself is not a fan of long articles. Please follow me for more information re: Ginebra and of course for your daily dose of random rants from me.. Hehe! http://twitter.com/thaniathania5 thanks much!!!

Ginebra Lives Another Day, Displays Never-Say-Die Spirit

Barangay Cebu rejoices as Ginebra displays their Never-Say-Die attitude when they trip Alaska Aces in their out-of-town game last night, May 22, 2010.

Eric Menk showed some muscles as he owned the night with conference-high 25 points (and was later declared as the Best Player of the Game).

Mark "The Spark" Caguioa, Jayjay "The Fast" Helterbrand, Ronald "The Fearless" Tubid and Willie "Thriller" Miller also displayed remarkable performance when they all combined efforts to succumbed Cone's Aces to their 6th loss.

"Our players played their hearts out and that's just the way the Ginebra team should play come what may." Ginebra mentor Jong Uichico said.

Diamon Simpson on the other hand led the Aces with 24 points.

Cyrus Baguio, a former GinKing, finished with 17 points, and
Tony Dela Cruz and Joe DeVance had 11 each.

This is another Ginebra classic so to speak, a classic come-from-behind victory..

Scores:

Ginebra 105 – Menk 25, Caguioa 20, Miller 12, Helterbrand 12, Ambres 10, Tubid 9, Hatfield 8, Villanueva 4, De Ocampo 3, Wilson 2, Cruz 0.

Alaska 93 – Simpson 24, Baguio 17, Dela Cruz 11, DeVance 11, Tenorio 9, Thoss 7, Fonacier 6, Borboran 4, Eman 2, Hugnatan 2, Dela Pena 0.

Quarter scores: 25-20; 46-50; 69-75; 105-93.

Sta. Lucia Realtors Stunned Ginebra Kings, 86-72

It was our Kings' 2nd game for this conference and still, I was not able to watch it. I have not seen the 2 games even on TV -- super busy. I feel sorry too that I was not able to have this blog updated for the longest time. 1st game, our team won versus Talk N Text Tropang Texters 97-90. Awvee Storey made a shocking 33 points and Mark "The Spark" Caguioa exploded with 19 points. Caguioa was declared the Best Player of the Game. However, in it's 2nd game this conference, Ginebra was stunned by Sta. Lucia Realtors as the latter owned all 4 quarters of the game 25-20, 44-39, 61-54, 86-72. SLR leaders were Johnson 22, Reyes 14 and Williams 13. And on the Kings' side, Storey contributed 13 points, his score way too low compared to his performance in their first game, Jayjay Helterbrand added 12, Baguio 9 and Caguioa 8. Last conference, Urbiztondo of SLR was ill-marked by some kabarangays who witnessed him talk-smacking Caguioa in one of their games. Caguioa at that time, alongside Helterbrand was not playing due to his knee injury. Die-hard fans who were furious at that incident said "Tingnan natin yabang mo pag naglaro si Caguioa!" (Let's see what you can do once Caguioa is back.) Now in their first encounter, Urbiztondo added 9 points for his team evidently outscoring Mark's 8 points. But, is this really much of an issue? Do we even have to talk about this? If that one game shows Urbiztondo is better than Caguioa in all aspects, then we are in real sh*tty talk here. A single game won't make you a superstar. A single game won't make you THE FURIOUS overnight. And you can never earn respect if you are like that. Yeah, like that. So, I guess, clearly, we shouldn't really be explaining things, or justifying things, to evidently say Mark Caguioa is waaaaaaaaaay too good to be compared to some, no-names. Yeah, no-names. I will be seeing you PBA sometime April, once Rudy Hatfield is back. I am also looking forward to seeing my super duper ultra mega to the max love team, Ginebra. :)
